Nearly ninety percent of Greek Jews perished during the Holocaust. Most were killed at Auschwitz/Birkenau. But on the Ionian island of Zakynthos, the entire Greek Jewish community was saved from annihilation.

The German commander on Zakynthos, Alfredo Lutt, a vile, treacherous man, ordered the island’s Bishop Demetrios Chrysostomos and Mayor Loukas Karrer to prepare a list of all the Jews on the island. He gave them 72 hours to deliver the list. What happened next was a series of remarkable and historic acts of human courage, compassion and cunning.

The story illuminates the humanity of a people who risked their lives to save their neighbors. 72 HOURS is based on the nonfiction book MIRACLE AT ZAKYNTHOS: THE ONLY GREEK JEWISH COMMUNITY SAVED IN ITS ENTIRETY FROM ANNIHILATION by Deno Seder. The book has been optioned for development as a motion picture.

There are over 500,000 homeless people in the United States, including over 100,000 children.* The interviews in this book are with people who have experienced homelessness and people who are working to end it. Hopefully, their stories will increase awareness of homelessness and encourage local, state and federal governments to increase funding and create more programs to ultimately end homelessness in America.

Dead Fish: Humor and Satire in Political Advertising

Humor and satire are powerful weapons in political advertising. Dead Fish presents dozens of ads and videos with pictures, scripts and narrative to demonstrate how humor and satire can win elections. The title is derived from a prop used in one of Seder’s ads. Other props and performers include a 2,000 pound Brahman bull, chickens, pigs, goats, a camel, a 1949 Mercury, a kazoo band, women on drugs, professional wrestlers, floating hamburgers, a funeral hearse, scantily clad showgirls – whatever it took to get people’s attention, amuse them, inform them and get them to vote for a candidate or against an opponent.

Psychologist Carol Moog offered this theory to the New York Times: “Humor gives people a way to vicariously express their aggression. It appeals to their intellect and makes them feel bright.” Hopefully, you’ll feel bright (and amused) after reading this book.

"This attack ad against me is disgusting and slanderous. I’m going to sue your ass!”
